Our client is seeking a Software Tester to join their expanding team. To build and execute comprehensive test strategies for in house business and customer side applications. The successful candidate will be part of the test team working closely with colleagues, the business and the development team to understand the scope and functionality of IT projects within the communications industry. With this knowledge the candidate will be able to establish execution plans using best practices for testing in all areas from system and integration, to user acceptance testing. This role is ideally suited for someone who has good technical knowledge of software architectures, at least 2 years experience of designing, building and executing software test plans and having excellent documentation skills. The candidate will have the ability to analyse the software to create test procedures beyond that of the written functional specifications. In the first instance the candidate will work with the Test team to understand the scope and infrastructure of the companies systems and assist in the development of test plan design and execution. In the long term the candidate will design, build, execute and maintain test plans on a project by project basis. Responsibilities · To understand the design of existing IT systems where applicable. · To work with and develop relationships with the business and the development team to gain their respect and cooperation during the analysis phase. · To understand the high level build lifecycle · To design, build and execute tests on all aspects of the project functionality. · To report and monitor and maintain all bugs via a bug tracking system. · To assist in developing test strategies and infrastructure · To carry out system, integration, regression and occasional user acceptance testing. Essential Skills · A minimum of 2 years experience of software testing. · Good working experience of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office · Ability to analyse and break down a business/functional process and to understand its component parts. · Ability to produce structured clear and fluently written documents from both formal specifications and from software analysis. · Ability to generate close and cooperative working relationships with the business and development teams. · Experience of creating and running database queries as part of the process of testing analysis. A basic knowledge of SQL is required. · A thorough knowledge and experience of working with issue tracking systems · Understanding of the general project life cycle including the build, QA and deployment and version control. Desirable skills · Experience of Linux or other UNIX flavour. · Experience of automating testing. · ISEB Foundation certified.
